Where do I start, well baby ben was born 9wks ago and after 8days it was realised that my milk wasn't there, I started pumping 2hrly to boost the supply, by day 16 I had not really gained much so was put on domperidone 10mg 4xper day, I also started taking blessed thistle and womans elevit (pregnancy/bfding vitamin). Ben has been slowly gaining weight at around 100g - 140g per week and has plenty of wet nappies but only poo's every 4 or so days (one nappy's worth but not enough to leak out of the nappy), the poo is the pumkin soup colour and creamy.
Whilst I was expressing 2hrly I was feeding this to Ben through a supplimentary nursing system. At around 5wks he had a 300g weight gain so I stopped supplimenting and went to fuly bf but now in the last week or so Ben is feeding during the day on and off ALL day, like every other hour or so and then does one stretch of 4hrs, one stretch of 3hrs at night and then back to 90mins/2hrs. He never seems fully satisfied at a feed, normally falls asleep at the breast, cat naps for 20-30mins then wants more. Am I ever going to be able to keep my supply up without having to express between feeds? Is the weight gains of 100g-140g normal? Shoudl i be worried about the amount of poo (or lack of it). Please could anyone give me some suggestions? Unfortunately I had to give the hospital pump back so only now have a hand held avent so really don't fancy the expressing thing.
